There are many different organized rifle activities at EESA using both our indoor and outdoor ranges. See below for more information!
Air Rifle / Air Pistol
The air rifle and air pistol range is located on the upper level of the clubhouse and is wheelchair accessible. This range was designed by Richard Lanning and features up to 10 lanes with returnable targets in the standing position.
Targets are shot at a distance of 10 meters (approximately 33 feet). We shoot precision or Olympic style shooting. Currently East Elgin is one of the host ranges for the Lakeshore Smallbore Association winter matches. They are held the second Sunday of the month from November to March. As well as .22 rifle shooting, the match also includes air rifle and pistol.
The EESA junior rifle program is open to members as well as to the general public.
This program is offered on Friday nights starting on the first Friday in January and ending at the end of April. Registration starts just at 5:00 pm with the first relay (line) commencing at 6:00 pm. Participants shoot their relay (line) twice, and at two targets per relay.
The club provides several club owned .22 rim fire rifles for use as well individuals can provide their own appropriate models (aperture sights are required). Shooters are provided training in the safe handling and firing of firearms and can compete on various levels to obtain progressive badges.
Past Junior members have competed with distinction in both the Ontario and Canada Games. A $10 fee (per session) includes both targets and ammunition for participants. Junior memberships are also available for $10 (per season) and include the badge program and awards night. Age limitations are 10 to 20 years of age. Certified coaches are present at each event to ensure both the safety and training of the participants.

Our Senior rifle squad meet every other Thursday commencing at 7:00 pm. Participants use match style .22 rifles in the indoor range and the 100 meter outdoor range and regularly compete in area matches in the Monarch League during the warmer months, and the LSBA during the colder months. Be sure to contact a member prior to coming out as they may be at an away match.
Shooters compete in multiple position shooting using the indoor and 100 meter outdoor ranges. We also have an Olympic-style Air Rifle Program that shoots indoors with the .22 calibre rifles on Thursday evenings. Standard range fees apply.
